Full Description:

We invite applications for a Ph.D. position in the CHOC-WAVES group affiliated by CNRS (French Center of National Scientific Research) at INSA (National Institute for Applied Sciences) of Rouen (University of Normandy, France), which is one of the highly prestigious engineering schools in France, starting from Oct. 2016. This fully funded position is available for an outstanding, motivated master student interested in pursuing Ph.D. studies in the field of numerical simulation, compressible flows, turbulence modeling, shock waves. In this role, you will participate to the development and utilization of an available three-dimensional multi-species compressible solver code, which is optimized to run efficiently on massively parallel computers. You will have access to national and European High Performance Computing (HPC) platforms in the order of 10-100k cores. You will be a part of a group that is known internationally in the field and will closely collaborate with our partner universities in US (Texas Tech, Stanford) and Europe (Imperial College London, Technical University Munich). Preferred skills: - Prior experience in numerical methods, modeling and simulations. - Good experience with programming languages (Fortran, C, or C++). - Good writing and communication skills in English or French. European Master (M2) or Engineering degree (ingénieur) in Applied Mathematics or Engineering sciences: Energetics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer defended by Sept. 2016 is a prerequisite. Applicants should be highly motivated and dynamic, have good analytical and communication skills, and be able to work solely and as a part of a team.
