Harmonic nanoparticles for bio-imaging

A PhD studentship is available at SYMME laboratory (Université Savoie Mont Blanc) in the framework of a French-Swiss project. This project aims to develop Harmonic Nanoparticles such as BiFeO3 or LiNbO3 for bio-imaging. By their crystalline structure, harmonic nanoparticles present very efficient nonlinear optical response and can be effectively imaged using second harmonic generation (SHG) as contrast mechanism in multiphoton microscopysystems.

This interdisciplinary project involves several universities and companies. The PhD project aims to deeply characterize the nonlinear optical properties of harmonic nanoparticles and to develop new imaging protocols based on such probes. Work will be carried out in close collaboration with the GAP-Biophotonics group at Geneva University.

Candidates should have a Master's degree in physics (or a similar degree) and strongmotivation and skills for optics.
